Kristen & Robbie Mathias’s fall wedding at historic Emory Grove
The Inspiration
Since they first were engaged, most likely even before that, Kristen had an idea of how she wanted her fall wedding to look. The whole family came together to help make her wedding vision come to life. As her dad said, the room in which they hosted the wedding was empty and had bare walls just 24 hours before they said “I Do”. Walking through the doors that day, you would have never thought that was true. Kristen did an absolutely amazing job with the help of her parents, sisters, Robbie, and many more family members and friends making this Emory Grove wedding one for the books. You can see their fall engagement session on the blog from last year. They are just so cute!
The Wedding
Though the wedding wasn’t at her parents house (her childhood home) as Kristen had originally wanted, The Historic Hotel at Emory Grove felt pretty close. Emory Grove was a cute old hotel that was tucked back in the woods in Glyndon, Maryland. Though the hotel is no longer used for guests to stay in, you can stay in cabins that line the property and use the hotel for events. After prepping for the day at her parent’s house, and the guys downtown, we all traveled to Emory Grove for their first look before heading to Glyndon United Methodist Church where they would say their vows, place their rings, have”the kiss”, leave the altar accidentally before the final prayer, return to the altar, and then leave the church in a MG Midget to get their party started! The reception at Emory Grove was one of a kind. From fall florals littered beautifully around the Hotel, to games set up on the wrap around porch, to fireball bomb tosses instead of bouquet and garters. Robbie and Kristen, your wedding was amazing, and I couldn’t be happier for the two of you !
These are beautiful, Valerie! They had such a neat venue for their wedding! I’m loving all of the fall colors and decorations!
