The Couple
Elizabeth and Shea are two of the sweetest people you could ever meet. Watching the two of them together is heart melting. You can see Shea’s love for her pouring out at every moment, and Elizabeth’s giggly happiness is so contagious. As every couple, they are loving every second of their engaged life. Shea loves calling his kind and funny woman his fiance, and Elizabeth is enjoying planning her future with her thoughtful and compassionate man.
The Proposal
Elizabeth described their engagement story: “Our proposal happened on January 11, 2018. We were in San Diego with a group of friends, visiting a friend who had moved out there. To start at the beginning, about a month before our trip to San Diego my friend and I were chatting about when we thought Shea and I would get engaged. I was thinking maybe either after we get a house (in January we were in the trenches our house hunting) or after Shea’s sister’s wedding in November 2018. I did mention that it would be cool to get engaged while in San Diego since a lot of my good friends would be there, but that thought quickly went away when I realized our dog Harvey wouldn’t be there.
On our first day, the group went to the San Diego Zoo and then headed to Sunset Cliffs to see the sunset and get some good photos. Little did I know that a week earlier, Shea had picked up an engagement ring and told all my friends on the trip that he was going to propose while at Sunset Cliffs. We arrive to the cliffs a few minutes before sunset and walk out onto the ledge. At this point am being stubborn because I don’t want to go too close to the edge and fall, to get me to walk down Shea took my hand and led me down.
I took my phone out to get some pictures, and while I was doing that, Shea got down on one knee. I turned towards him and was stunned, I had no clue that he was going to propose, and the first words out of my mouth were “ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?” Shea told me no, I’m not kidding! and then asked me to marry him and I said yes! It took a few minutes but I was finally able to catch my breath and turned to all of my friends cheering and taking pictures further up on the cliff. The celebration continued that night with dinner and a party at Barley Mash.”
The Pup
Harvey is just the cutest little Boston Terrier you have ever seen, right?! He was a little nervous, but very excited for his professional photo debut. After being let off the leash (ahhh freedom) for a bit, checking in on mom and dad while they are sharing a kiss, playtime with Aunt Jenna, and a long walk through the park; he was ready to pose for a few photos. Hopefully he slept well for Mom and Dad that night as well!
The Session
Their session could not have been any better. Lets be real for a moment, all us Marylanders know the weather this year has been absolutely CRAZY. Elizabeth and Shea lucked out and had the most beautiful evening at Centennial Park. Despite not being allowed to photograph on the pier, we made the best of our lakeside stroll and enjoyed every minute of it. We chatted about wedding details, laughed at harvey (wiggling his little butt while he walked or hopping like a bunny when he ran), enjoyed a gorgeous sunset, and so much more in between. The photos say it all, this session was a blast!
Congratulations on your engagement! Thank you for choosing VMP to capture your wedding!
