The Year Of The Pandemic
Lets be real, 2020 was a tough year for everyone. Even those who were able to benefit from some of the changes, suffered in other ways. The wedding industry was no exception. From brides and grooms having to either drastically change or postpone their weddings, to wedding vendors having to jump through hoops to keep clients on the books, and everything in between. Needless to say, this year of work was unlike anything before. I am blessed to have still photographed a good amount of weddings despite the craziness. Here is a quick peek at what this year was like in the wedding world.
Awesome ‘Friendors’
I am lucky to be able to call many of my fellow wedding vendors, friends. Though I didn’t capture much behind the scenes of them this year, the following two ladies were super awesome. Kate – a college friend who joined me as an assistant, she was my runner, my second set of hands & eyes, and of course added a fun spin on all the things I needed her for. And Teri – My second shooter, sidekick, partner in crime. She is a truly amazing, and super talented photographer and I couldn’t have been more thankful to have her by my side at multiple weddings this year. And of course I can’t forget about my furry sidekick, Paislee, who made sure to be a part of any set up at home.
VMP
And then there is me. I am so thankful that Teri caught so many fun behind the scenes photos of me just doing what I do best! Of course as a photographer i’m taking photos… but I also am an ear to listen when a client is worried or stressed, a second set of hands to help check off another box for a bride or groom on their busy day, a time keeper, a server if the couple needs a drink or bite to eat, a dress fluffer, a hair stylist(I almost always have extra bobby pins in my hair in case we need one on the fly), I bustle dresses when needed, remove veils, buckle shoes, the list goes on and on. My job doesn’t start and stop with the click of the button. Here is a quick peek into all of that!
Second Shooting
On days I am not already booked, I second shoot for some of my ‘friendors’. One of which just so happens to be my bestie. Sarah Wockenfuss Photography captured these goofy behind the scenes photos while she was testing her light for some night photos. We truly do love our jobs, and love having fun while at work!
What a fun season shooting with you! Looking forward to more gorgeous weddings & amazing couples!
